Man charged with property crimes after comic book theft

On Behalf of | Jun 27, 2019 | Property Crimes |

When people in Boulder and throughout Colorado are arrested for crimes related to theft, there are certain items that are commonly taken. That can include automobiles, jewelry and money. Items that have both nostalgic and financial value are also a frequent target to be stolen. If the property is of significant value, the charges can be severe, with extended jail time and other consequences. Having legal advice is imperative to create a strong defense.

A 39-year-old former employee of a comic book store was arrested on allegations that he stole comics of immense value. According to the investigation, the man is said to have broken into the store. He smashed the cases where rare books, such as early Spider-Man, Avengers and Iron Man were kept. The Spider-Man had been autographed. Investigators said the man cut himself at the time and left blood in several places at the scene. Tips were sent to law enforcement as to who was believed to have committed the robbery. He faces class 4 felonies for theft and second-degree burglary.

Property crimes can come in many ways. If the stolen items were exceedingly valuable and the person is facing felony charges, there can be a long jail sentence, major fines and a radically changed life. Although these allegations are serious, it does not automatically mean that the person is guilty. This is true regardless of the evidence and witness statements. Perhaps the person was wrongly accused. Or, it is possible that the evidence was accrued improperly. There could be viable options for a plea agreement or an acquittal could be possible.

If you have been charged with theft, you should contact a law firm experienced in helping people facing property crimes.
